  • Are the published articles readable on the page?
    Yes. Published article text is readable on the page without a paywall or email gate. Completeness and executable-pattern review status vary by article.
  • Do I need to register or sign in?
    No account or sign in is required. Bookmark an article and check its review status before relying on the instructions.
  • Can I print or save patterns to read offline?
    Yes. Use your browser's print dialog to print the current page or save it as a PDF.
  • What yarn weight should I use?
    Check the individual article for a source-listed yarn weight. If no weight is shown, the page does not assert one.
  • How do I substitute yarn?
    Match the weight first (worsted for worsted, DK for DK, etc.), then check fiber for drape and warmth. For wearables, always swatch and check gauge before committing the full skein. For amigurumi and home decor, you can be more flexible.
  • What is gauge, and do I need to swatch?
    Gauge is the number of stitches and rows per inch. For wearables and anything that needs to fit, swatching matters. For stuffed projects, blankets, and decor, you can usually skip the swatch as long as you stay near the suggested hook size.
  • Should I block my finished piece?
    For wearables, lacework, and granny-square joins, blocking can open the stitches and change the finish. For amigurumi and tightly stuffed pieces, it may not be appropriate. Follow any finishing guidance actually present in the article.
  • Are these US or UK crochet terms?
    The site navigation uses US terminology. Check the terminology stated in the individual article before beginning; US and UK stitch names are not interchangeable.
  • I'm new to crochet. Where should I start?
    Start with the beginner skill level page. It lists articles currently carrying that label; check each article before starting.
